Mirrored Competition

“Look in the mirror, that is your competition.”-John Assaraf

Don’t allow competition to become what drives your decision making. People have become broke and bankrupt trying to compete with others. Houses have gone into foreclosure and cars repossessed. Marriages have failed, all in the name of competing. Do yourself a favor and look into the mirror. The person that your eyes behold is your competition. Competing with others will always leave you feeling unfulfilled. Work every day to become better than you were on yesterday. Seeing yourself as your only compeition will equip you to be more sustained mentally. It increases your longevity and it builds your self-confidence. Be inspired by many but compete with none.

I am a year 2 elementary school teacher. Year one was very overwhelming and suprisingly successful. I work at a Title I school that is in "turnaround" status. My school is currently in a transitioning phase for personalized learning after having a much success this past school year. I have been selected as a model classroom for personalized learning at my school and I have presented at one of the nation's largest personalized learning conferences, PL Summit hosted by EdElements. I had a great first year and am now ready to share with you my journey.

  1. Keep doing what you do. It’s amazing that you are on top of things because what happened onto me yesterday is a prime example . What people really wants you to do is compete against them or compare yourself against them that’s not what’s it all about. Keep being who God has made you to be. A fearful and wonderful made human being; doing good to all men and living a rich full satisfying life in him.
